DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riding long days on the Yamaha YZF-R1 demands a front end that works with you, not against you. The K-Tech 25IDS Open Cartridge Kit is engineered to deliver all-day comfort and precise feel across every road surface, replacing the factory cartridge with a fully tuneable 25 mm Independent Damping System that lets you dial in compression and rebound to suit your riding style and conditions — without compromise.
Key Features
- 25 mm Independent Damping System (25IDS) with 30 clicks of independent compression adjustment and 30 clicks of independent rebound adjustment for highly personalised, fatigue-reducing setup
- Hard-anodised aerospace-grade aluminium components deliver superior durability and a smooth, consistent damping feel across extended rides
- Increased stroke versus the original cartridge improves wheel tracking and compliance over rough surfaces, reducing rider fatigue on long days
- Suggested baseline settings (14 clicks compression, 18 clicks rebound, 8 mm preload) let you get on the road quickly, then fine-tune at your own pace
- Compatible with the 36-260 spring series (springs sold separately), giving you a wide range of spring rates to match rider weight and load
- Part number 130-015-270-020 ensures exact fitment for YZF-R1 RN32, RN49 and RN65 models built between 2015 and 2026
Built for the Long Haul
The 25IDS platform separates compression and rebound circuits entirely, so adjusting one does not affect the other. This independence is the foundation of a genuinely comfortable, predictable ride — especially on public roads where surface quality varies mile to mile. The hard-anodised aerospace aluminium body resists corrosion and heat, maintaining consistent oil viscosity characteristics even after hours in the saddle.
Tuneable From the First Ride
K-Tech provides a recommended starting point — 14 clicks of compression, 18 clicks of rebound, 8 mm of spring preload — so installation is never followed by aimless guessing. From that baseline, each of the 30 available clicks offers a noticeable, repeatable change, meaning you can work towards your ideal setup methodically and return to it every time.
