The YZF-R1 RACE is a track-only R1 sold after Euro 5+ ended road registration. The JP CO YA033 replaces its throttle housing and switch block in one machined body.

A Superbike Without a Number Plate
Euro 5+ made the R1 impossible to homologate for European roads, and rather than withdraw the model Yamaha continued it as a track-only machine. No lights, no mirrors, no registration, and an engine no longer constrained by a noise and emissions ceiling.
What Changed and What Did Not
The chassis, the crossplane engine and the electronics carry over from the road bike. What went is the road equipment, which is why a machine that cannot be ridden to a circuit is otherwise identical to one that could.
Standard Switchgear on a Race Bike
Yamaha did not develop a separate handlebar assembly for a low-volume track model. The result is a competition motorcycle carrying the moulded throttle housing from ordinary production, which is exactly the kind of component owners replace first.
One Machined Body
Throttle housing and integrated switch block cut from a single billet of Ergal 7075, using Yamaha's own connector. No wiring is modified and the electronics behave exactly as delivered.
Washed Hot, Stored Damp
A track-only machine lives in a van between meetings and gets cleaned while still warm. Sealed switch elements inside a body with no moulded seam are aimed at that rather than at mileage.
One Model Year So Far
The RACE designation appeared in 2025. It is a narrow fitment and easy to establish, which is unusual in a catalogue where most entries span half a decade.
Reversible in Principle
The standard assembly refits at any point using the same connector. On a machine that will never be registered the point is less about resale than about being able to return to a known configuration if a setup change does not work.
Sealed Inside
The switch elements are sealed units and the machined body has no moulded joint anywhere. Water from a jet washer, which this motorcycle meets after every outing, has nowhere to enter.
