The Panigale Profile
Cut for this cockpit rather than for Ducati's range as a whole. The cable exit angle and the clearance at full lock are what separate a dedicated body from a universal one.
A Hundred and Fifty-Seven Horsepower
The middleweight Superquadro at 955 cc, with more torque than the 899 everywhere. Euro 4 forced the change and the engine came out better for it.
Those Exhausts
The side-exit silencers were a regulatory necessity and they divided opinion immediately. Ducati moved them back under the tail for the V2 and nobody argued.
Housing Alone
The switch block stays where it is. This replaces the throttle assembly, which is the appropriate purchase when nothing electrical needs attention.
A Cut Bore
The tube turns in a machined bore and a sensor reads it. That consistency is what the fuelling calibration assumes and what a moulded housing gradually stops providing.
One Anodised Finish
Black, converted into the aluminium. Against the 959's bodywork it is the option that draws no attention to itself at all.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly twice the yield strength of the alloys used in most machined accessories. Harder to work and considerably more durable where it clamps.
Still a Monocoque
The 959 kept the frameless architecture, with the airbox carrying load between the headstock and the engine. It remains an unusual thing to find at this price point.
The Practical Panigale
Enough power to be genuinely fast and a chassis that does not require constant negotiation. A great many riders who owned a 1299 as well found themselves using the 959 more.
