Staggered Mounting
The offset pattern rather than the aligned one. An S has often been modified at the lever end already, which makes checking before ordering worth the thirty seconds.
Brembo M50
Ducati specified the same monobloc caliper it used on superbikes, on a bike with upright bars. The braking capacity comfortably exceeds what the chassis can put down.
Eleven Degrees of Overlap
The reduced valve timing is what made a superbike engine civilised below three thousand revs. Without it a 1198 cc Testastretta would be intolerable in traffic.
Two Finishes
Black and titanium, grown into the aluminium. Against gold Öhlins, titanium acknowledges without matching and black disappears into the cockpit entirely.
The Terminal, Not the Button
What stops working on a moulded block is the contact underneath, after water has reached it. The mechanism above is generally still sound when the function starts hesitating.
Cut and Sealed
One piece of Ergal with the elements enclosed. No seam anywhere in the body removes the route the moisture was taking.
Several Seat Heights
Ducati offered options on the 1200 alongside adjustable bar positions. It is part of why the model has kept such a broad range of owners across three decades.
Ergal 7075
An aerospace grade at roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a clamped component that is structural rather than decorative.
Ducati's Plug
Pre-wired, nothing cut. The change is mechanical and reverses in the same fifteen minutes it took to make.
A Colour Dashboard on a Naked
Full TFT with modes and traction levels readable at a glance, at a time when much of the class was still using segment displays. Ducati was quietly deciding what the next decade of handlebar controls would have to manage, and the switchgear it fitted was not really built for that workload.
