A Bar Pulled Back
The Diavel's handlebar sweeps toward the rider further than anything else Ducati builds. The mounting geometry here follows that rather than treating it as a variation.
Bolts in Line
The aligned pattern, one of two. Which a particular motorcycle takes depends on its master cylinder clamp and the handlebar is the only place that answers it.
An Even Grip
A machined clamp meets the tube across its whole radius. On a heavy motorcycle with a wide bar, spreading the clamping load properly stops the block creeping round.
Threads in Aluminium
Cut rather than moulded, so they take a proper torque figure and survive being worked repeatedly. On a bike this heavy, fasteners that hold matter more than usual.
Standing Water
Moisture collecting in a joint while the bike is parked has hours to work inward. It does considerably more harm than any amount of rain at road speed.
Contacts Enclosed
Sealed inside the machined body rather than behind a lid. There is nothing to lose tension and no path for water to reach a terminal.
A V4 With Valve Springs
The Granturismo abandons desmodromic actuation, which doubled the service interval to 60.000 kilometres. On a bike bought for distance that changes the ownership case.
Thirteen Kilograms Lighter
Despite two extra cylinders, the V4 came in below the 1260 it replaced. Ducati redesigned the chassis around the new engine rather than adapting the old one.
The Rear Bank Shuts Down
Two cylinders deactivate at idle to keep heat away from the rider. It addresses the oldest complaint about big V-twins in traffic and it works properly.
