The JP ES 010 takes the FZ8's PAIR solenoid out and stops the fault the removal would otherwise cause.

A Detuned R1 Engine
Yamaha shortened the R1's stroke to 779 cc and softened it for the FZ8. It is a smoother, less frantic version of a very good four and it never quite found its audience.
Sold for Five Years
The FZ8 arrived in 2010 and was gone by 2015, squeezed between the FZ6 below and the FZ1 above. Surviving examples are cheap and considerably better than their reputation.
What PAIR Does
Feeds fresh air into the exhaust ports so unburnt fuel finishes burning. It reduces measured emissions and produces the popping on a closed throttle.
The Solenoid Circuit
The ECU checks it at every start. Disconnecting it without an eliminator leaves a warning that cannot be cleared.
Before a Remap
Air arriving downstream of combustion makes the lambda reading meaningless. Anyone putting an FZ8 on a dyno should remove the system first.
The Cylinder Head Ports
They need blanking separately. The solenoid eliminator is the electrical half and a cover is the mechanical half.
Emissions Equipment
Its removal takes the motorcycle out of type approval, which makes this a track modification wherever the rules are enforced.
A Hundred and Six Horsepower
Enough to be quick and not so much that the chassis struggles. The FZ8 is one of the more underrated naked bikes of its decade.
Reversible
Yamaha's own connector, nothing spliced. The solenoid returns for an inspection in the time it takes to lift the tank.
Cheap Now, Good Then
The FZ8 sold poorly because it sat between two better-known models and cost about the same as both. Fifteen years later it is one of the least expensive ways into a proper Yamaha four, and the engine has proved as durable as the R1 unit it descends from.
