The JP MJ 001 smooths out the Hypermotard 821's throttle response at small openings, which is where a map written to pass an emissions test is at its most cautious.

A Motard With a Testastretta
Ducati put the water-cooled twin into a supermoto chassis, which meant mapping an engine with real power for a rider standing on the pegs.
What It Cannot Fix
A worn throttle position sensor, a leaking inlet rubber, a clogged filter or a sticking valve. A module corrects fuel quantity and nothing else. Fitting one to hide a mechanical fault postpones the diagnosis rather than avoiding it.
It Does Not Touch Ignition
Advance and retard are the standard controller's business. A fuel module cannot alter them, which limits what it can achieve and also removes the commonest way to damage an engine electronically.
Mounting It Properly
Somewhere dry, secured, and where the harness is not stretched or pinched by the subframe. Ten minutes of care here is the difference between a component that lasts and one that develops an intermittent fault.
No Settings to Get Wrong
A preset curve cannot be misconfigured, cannot be lost when a battery is disconnected and cannot be blamed for a fault six months later. That reliability is the argument for buying the simpler of the two units.
The Other Unit in the Range
JetPrime also sells a programmable control unit at a higher price for owners who want to shape the curve themselves. This one is for owners who would rather not.
The Airbox Lid
Owners sometimes drill or remove it hoping for the same result. That changes airflow without changing fuel and generally makes the mixture problem worse rather than better.
What Happens at Full Throttle
The correction continues to apply, but a fully open throttle is a condition the factory maps carefully anyway. The differences there are smaller than at part load.
