The JP ES 016 presents the Scrambler 1100's lighting controller with the current draw it expects, which is the whole of what the original filament lamp was doing for it.

Two Hundred and Six Kilograms
Wet, which is substantial for a Scrambler and entirely appropriate for the engine. It is a bigger motorcycle in every sense.
Nothing Spliced
The loom stays exactly as the factory built it, so the standard lamp refits whenever the standard hanger does.
A Tail Tidy Is Enough
Even without a race tail, an aftermarket hanger frequently drops the original lamp. The panel notices at the very next ignition cycle.
Both Ends of the Tail
The rear light and the plate lamp are separate circuits on separate connectors. A complete conversion answers both rather than one.
Not a Bulb Substitute
This does not light anything. It restores the electrical load so the circuit behaves, and the plate is lit by whatever the owner fits or not at all.
Why It Is Monitored at All
European type approval requires a motorcycle to detect lighting failures, and the plate lamp is part of the lighting system whether anybody thinks of it that way or not.
Fitted Once
There is no service interval, no inspection and no adjustment. It goes in during the conversion and is never thought about again.
A Clean Instrument Panel
The practical argument is not tidiness for its own sake. A live warning sits in front of the next one and hides it, so the dashboard stops being useful exactly when it matters most. Clearing a known, deliberate change keeps the panel meaningful for the faults nobody planned.
Water Under the Seat Unit
The rear of a motorcycle collects everything the back wheel throws forward, and the area behind the plate is the wettest part of it. A potted body with a moulded plug survives that; a soldered joint wrapped in tape survives one winter and then produces an intermittent fault nobody can find.
