A Bike Bought for Lap Times
The R1M's carbon bodywork, electronic Öhlins suspension and telemetry package exist for one purpose. Owners who use them properly change the throttle action early, because corner exit is where the data most often shows time being lost.
What the Logger Sees
A shorter throttle action produces a different trace: the same input arrives at full opening sooner, and the rider can be more deliberate about how quickly they get there. On a bike with proper data acquisition that change is measurable rather than a matter of feel.
The Switch Has to Be Restored
Yamaha integrates the right-hand controls into the throttle housing. Once a quick tube is fitted they need an independent mounting, and this unit provides it using the motorcycle's own connector so the telemetry package is untouched.
Positioned Deliberately
A bar-mounted switch can be clocked to suit a rider tucked behind the screen, which is a different position from the one the factory assumed for road use. That adjustability is why an independent clamp is preferred on a prepared bike.
Sealed for the Paddock
Military-specification contacts inside a body milled from one block. R1Ms live in vans between meetings and are cleaned while still warm, which is harder on switchgear than any amount of riding.
Reversible
The original throttle assembly refits with no trace in the wiring. On a limited-production motorcycle whose value depends partly on originality, that matters more than on almost anything else in this catalogue.
