Build Quality & Carbon Technology
BST's Diamond Tek process uses aerospace-grade pre-preg carbon fibre — resin-impregnated sheets that are laid up and cured under controlled heat and pressure — to achieve a rim structure with outstanding lateral and torsional stiffness relative to its mass. Unlike aftermarket aluminium forged wheels, the carbon construction absorbs micro-vibrations across a long riding day, so your hands and wrists arrive at the destination in better shape. The CNC-machined 6082 T6 aluminium hub is the ideal interface: hard, lightweight and dimensionally precise, it mates perfectly with the R1's axle and bearing dimensions across the entire RN32-through-RN65 production run.
Performance on Road and Track
Reducing unsprung and rotating mass is one of the highest-value upgrades on a litre-class superbike. The Diamond Tek set's front wheel weighs 5.51 lbs (2.50 kg) and the rear 8.82 lbs (4.0 kg), translating directly into faster direction changes, more responsive braking and a noticeably livelier throttle response mid-corner. On track the high cornering load ratings — 543 Nm at the front and 711 Nm at the rear — mean the wheels remain geometrically stable even under the aggressive lean angles and kerb loads that the R1 platform is capable of generating. On the road, the reduction in rotational inertia makes city riding and canyon-road direction changes feel effortless, with none of the fatigue associated with heavier stock wheels over long distances.
