DescriptionThe whole story▼
Twelve model years of R1 under one part number, and a single job: this titanium pipe is what joins the Akrapovic Track Day Muffler to the standard Yamaha headers. It is not an exhaust and it does not replace one.
Key Features
- Titanium link pipe and collector in one part
- Mounts the Track Day Muffler to the standard headers
- 97.4 dB at 5,500 rpm for the complete combination
- Covers the R1 from 2015 through 2026
- ECU remapping recommended
- Closed course competition use only
What You Need Alongside It
This pipe is designed around the Akrapovic Track Day Muffler. That muffler is a separate part and it does not appear in the current Akrapovic price list this shop buys from, so it may have to be sourced elsewhere or ordered specially.
Anyone whose R1 already wears the Track Day Muffler is exactly who this pipe is for. Anyone starting from a standard motorcycle should confirm the muffler is obtainable before ordering.
The Headers Stay Yamaha's
What makes this pipe unusual is that it works with the standard headers. Most Akrapovic track parts assume the whole system is replaced; this one lets a rider keep the factory header assembly and change only what sits behind it.
For a machine that spends most of its life on the road and a few weekends on a circuit, that is a cheaper and more reversible route than a complete system.
97.4 Decibels, Stated Plainly
Akrapovic gives one figure and it is the useful one: standard headers plus this link pipe plus the Track Day Muffler measure 97.4 dB at 5,500 rpm. That is the number a noise official reads, quoted for the exact combination rather than for the part in isolation.
Most circuits with a 98 dB static limit will pass it. A few set the bar at 95, and those will not.
No Other Published Data
Akrapovic records no weight, power or torque figures for this pipe. That is normal for a connecting part whose effect only exists as part of a combination, and nothing is estimated here to fill the gap.
Titanium for a Connecting Part
Akrapovic builds this pipe in titanium rather than the stainless steel it uses for several other track day link pipes. Titanium costs more to form and weld, and on a part that sits between two others it is a decision about weight rather than about looks.
Twelve Model Years
Yamaha's R1 has kept the same exhaust mounting from the 2015 crossplane redesign through to the current bike, so one pipe covers the entire run. That is unusually broad and it makes the part easy to buy for.
Remapping
Akrapovic recommends rather than requires an ECU remap, for performance, throttle response and durability. Since the standard headers and their catalytic converter stay in place, the engine sees less of a change here than it would from a complete system.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
