DescriptionThe whole story▼
Both gains at 5,300 rpm — 1.5 PS and 1.9 Nm. On a 649 cc parallel twin styled after the Z650 of the 1970s, that is the middle of the rev range and exactly where a retro roadster is ridden.
Key Features
- 4.0 kg against the standard 5.65 kg: 1.7 kg and 29.2 per cent less
- 1.5 PS and 1.9 Nm, both measured at 5,300 rpm
- Sandblasted high-grade titanium muffler outer sleeve — matt rather than polished
- Black-coated stainless steel end cap
- Stainless steel link pipe and pre-muffler
- Removable noise insert supplied
- EC and ECE type approved
Sandblasted, Because of What It Sits On
The Z650RS is Kawasaki's retro roadster: round headlight, teardrop tank, spoke-pattern wheels and a deliberately period colour scheme. A mirror-polished titanium silencer would look like it came from a different decade.
Akrapovic sandblasts the sleeve instead, which leaves a matt surface closer to the finish of an older machine, and pairs it with a black-coated end cap rather than a bright one. It also hides fingerprints and road film, which a polished tube does not.
The Pre-Muffler Is Part of the System
This is not a plain silencer swap. The system includes a stainless steel pre-muffler as well as the link pipe, which is why the installation is quoted at 60 minutes rather than the half-hour a simple slip-on needs.
It is also why the weight saving reaches 29.2 per cent: more of the standard exhaust path is replaced than a silencer-only part would touch.
Z650RS and Z650 Are Not the Same Bike
Kawasaki builds both around the same 649 cc twin and the same trellis frame, but they are different motorcycles above it. The Z650 is the modern naked with angular bodywork and an underslung silencer; the Z650RS is the retro version with a round headlight, a teardrop tank and the exhaust routed to sit visible on the right.
That routing is why this part is specific to the RS. If your registration document says Z650 without RS, this is the wrong silencer — ask us and we will name the right one.
What Stays Standard
The header and the catalytic converter are untouched, no remapping is required, and the standard system bolts back on. Sixty minutes covers taking off the original silencer and pre-muffler and fitting both replacements, which is honest work rather than a quick clamp change.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-K6SO8-HCQT covers the Kawasaki Z650RS from model year 2022 through 2024.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
