DescriptionThe whole story▼
Old quarries and gravel pits are favourite ground for enduro organisers: steep banks, loose surfaces and space enough to lay out a whole special test. They are hard work for the clutch hand. On the Beta RR 250 two-stroke every climb out of the pit floor comes down to how much drive the gravel will accept before the rear tyre simply spins. For the RR 250 two-stroke of 2013 to 2022, Accossato offers the C7283 in place of the original clutch lever: milled from Ergal 7075, long enough for four fingers and mounted on a joint that allows the blade to fold if the bike lands on it.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Beta RR 250 two-stroke, model years 2013 to 2022
- Takes the place of the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Longer blade for four fingers, following Accossato's clutch-side design
- Anti-break joint lets the blade fold forward under impact
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, made in Italy
- Black, blue, orange or red blade on a dark base
- For off-road and competition; no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Every C7283 begins as a solid billet of Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, which CNC machines in Italy reduce to the finished shape. Accossato's stated aims are plain ones: a lever should be strong, it should add little weight and it should go on working. What reaches you is built from two parts. The dark base carries the pivot at the clutch mount, while the blade, in the colour you order, hangs from a joint. On this side of the bar the blade follows Accossato's long pattern and gives four fingers room to pull.
A Test Laid Out in a Quarry
Gravel has a way of rolling under a tyre like ball bearings. Open the throttle too hard at the foot of a quarry bank and the rear digs a hole; give it too little and the RR 250 two-stroke runs out of momentum halfway up. The clutch is the fine adjustment between the two. Riders slip it slightly so the tyre can find something to bite on, then let it out fully once the bike drives forward, and on a tight test that sequence repeats at every bank and every turn on the pit floor.
When it goes wrong on a steep bank, the Beta tends to stall, roll back and fall across the slope. Quarry ground is strewn with sharp-edged stone, and a bank is often steep enough for the bike to slide a little before it stops. For a solid lever, that mix of rock and sliding weight is frequently enough to snap the end off. The joint in the C7283 lets the blade fold forward and escape part of the load, so there is a reasonable chance of pulling the Beta RR 250 two-stroke upright with a clutch that still works, restarting and finishing the test. A reasonable chance, not a promise; on the clock, though, it can be the difference between losing seconds and losing the day.
Fitment and Compatibility
In Accossato's list the C7283 is shown for the Beta RR 250 two-stroke of 2013 to 2022, mounted at the original clutch control. Its counterpart on the front brake is the B8206, a folding brake lever for the same model years. Orange stays exclusive to this clutch lever and gold to the brake lever, while black, blue and red are made for both.
Road Approval
The C7283 comes without a German ABE. It is sold for off-road and competition use, and on an RR 250 that is registered for the road it is not approved for public roads.
