DescriptionThe whole story▼
A small single-cylinder engine needs revs to perform, and riding a 125 briskly means changing gear constantly to keep it in the upper part of its range. On the KTM 125 Duke, that makes the clutch lever one of the busiest controls on the bike, used far more often than on a bigger motorcycle covering the same road. The Accossato ESK390 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the 125 Duke, listed from 2014 to 2021, with an adjustable reach and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the KTM 125 Duke, 2014 to 2021
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green or orange
- Short blade for two-finger gear changes, standard blade approximately 138 mm
- Seven blade colours on a black hub, orange included
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, rigid blade
- Delivered in its own box
Construction and Material Quality
The ESK390 begins as aluminium and is cut to shape on CNC machines before being anodised in two tones: black for the hub, which contains the pivot and the adjuster, and a colour of your choice for the blade. Because anodising works the colour into the oxide layer that forms at the surface of the metal, it is not a coating that could peel. The blade is rigid and continuous from the hub to the tip, without a folding joint, so the lever responds the same way on the hundredth gear change of the day as on the first.
Keeping a Small Single Busy
Count the gear changes on a country road with a 125 and you will find far more than on a bigger bike: down for every incline, down again for the bend, up and up again on the exit. Each change is a pull of the clutch, and over a long ride the left hand does a surprising amount of work. Two details reduce it. The first is the reach: with the blade adjusted so that the fingers find it without opening the hand wide, every pull starts from a relaxed position. The second is the length: the long ESK390 gives more leverage for a lighter pull, while the short one suits riders who have learned to change gear with two fingers on the lever and the others on the grip. Orange, incidentally, is the colour most closely associated with KTM, should you want the lever on your 125 Duke to match the brand.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESK390 for the 125 Duke from 2014 to 2021, and it fits at the original clutch mounting in place of the stock lever. The EDF039 brake lever is listed for earlier bikes, 2011 to 2015, so for the 2014 and 2015 model years both sides of the 125 Duke can come from Accossato.
Road Approval
This clutch lever is sold for track use: a German ABE has not been documented for the ESK390.
