DescriptionThe whole story▼
For 2025, Honda took the Hornet name into the litre class. The CB1000 Hornet pairs a naked chassis with a four-cylinder engine developed from the 2017 Fireblade and retuned for the road, and it leaves the rider with a conventional clutch lever on the left. That lever decides how gracefully a bike with this much engine moves off. For the 2025 CB1000 Hornet, Accossato makes the ESY688H: a clutch lever milled from aluminium, with a reach you can adjust and a blade in short, standard or long.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Honda CB1000 Hornet, 2025 model year
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable at the pivot end
- Three lengths; standard about 138 mm
- Seven blade colours, hub always black
- Machined from aluminium on CNC equipment, anodised
- Fixed one-piece blade
Construction and Material Quality
The ESY688H is milled rather than cast, then anodised once the shape is finished. Its hub is black and carries the pivot bore and the adjuster; the blade is coloured and runs from the hub to the tip without a hinge. A fixed lever of this kind passes every movement of your fingers straight to the clutch, which is what you want when you are metering the drive of the Hornet's large engine at walking pace. The finish is an anodised layer rather than a coat of paint, so it stays even where gloves rub against it.
Big Engine, Gentle Start
On a litre four there is no shortage of pull at low revs, so moving off is rarely about the throttle. It is about the clutch. Set a modest, steady engine speed, let the lever out slowly until the bike begins to roll, and hold it there for a moment before releasing the rest. Rushing that last part is what makes a powerful naked like the CB1000 Hornet lurch away from the lights, and it becomes more noticeable with a passenger, on a slope or at a greasy junction. The lever position has a large say in how smooth you can be. If the bite point lies at the far end of your reach, your fingers straighten and lose sensitivity just when they should be doing fine work; if it lies close to the grip, the movement feels cramped. On the ESY688H you move the blade until the friction zone falls in the middle of your fingers' natural travel. The standard and long blades suit a four-finger release, the short one riders who prefer two fingers on the lever.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's catalogue gives the ESY688H for the CB1000 Hornet of the 2025 model year, fitted at the original clutch mounting. The same part number also appears on Accossato's list for several other Hondas, the CB750 Hornet among them. If your bike is from a later model year, compare its clutch lever with the product photos before ordering. Blue, gold, green and orange blades come in all three lengths, silver in standard and short, black and red in standard only.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for this lever; we therefore sell it for use on closed circuits.
