DescriptionThe whole story▼
Of the V7 III models, the Special is the one that stays closest to the classic V7 look, with spoked wheels, bright details and two round dials in front of the rider. Owners of a bike like that tend to think carefully before they change anything visible, and a brake lever is about as visible as a part can be. Accossato's EDF016 is a CNC-machined aluminium lever for the V7 III Special of 2017 to 2020. It fits the original master cylinder, adjusts for reach, and can be ordered in colours that either blend in with the classic styling or deliberately stand out from it.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the V7 III Special, listed 2017 to 2020
- Fits the Special's original master cylinder
- Adjustable reach to the grip
- Silver blade in standard or short length, black blade in standard
- Blue, gold, green and orange in all three lengths; red in standard
- Standard length approximately 138 mm
- Anodised aluminium, black hub, fixed blade
Construction and Material Quality
Chrome is a plating laid over another metal; anodising works from the inside out. On the EDF016, the surface of the machined aluminium is turned into a hard oxide film, and the colour is absorbed into that film before it is sealed, so there is no separate layer that could lift or peel. The lever is cut from aluminium on CNC machines, which gives it even proportions and a clean outline, and it is a fixed design with no hinge anywhere along the blade. Accossato keeps the hub black on every version, so only the blade shows colour.
Choosing a Blade for a Classic V7
On a V7 III Special, the quiet choices are silver and black. Silver picks up the bright metal elsewhere on the bike and, next to the black hub, looks like a period detail rather than an accessory; it is made in the standard and the short length. Black, offered in the standard length, is the most discreet option of all and lets the machined shape speak for itself. Some owners prefer to give the classic lines one modern accent, and for them gold, blue, green and orange are available in all three lengths, with red in the standard length. How a colour works on your particular Special depends on its paint and on details such as the seat, so it pays to look at the product photos next to your own bike before deciding. One more practical point: keep the original lever. Should you ever want to return the V7 III Special to its factory appearance, for yourself or for a buyer, it can simply go back on.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the V7 III Special, the EDF016 is listed from 2017 to 2020; Accossato's catalogue files the bike as the V7 750 Special. The lever sits on the Special's existing master cylinder. Its counterpart for the clutch is the ESD037, listed for the same four model years, so both sides of the bar can be finished in the same colour.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the EDF016. We therefore offer it for use on race tracks.
