It is to the category the part belongs to — from something the motorcycle consumes to something it is fitted with.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhat the R package touched, and what it did not\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eEverything the R badge paid for sits between the rider and the road: springs, damping, brakes and the confidence to lean on them. None of it went anywhere near the intake. The R breathes through the same airbox as the base Daytona, through the same opening, with the same element in it, which is why one part number covers both of them along with the two Street Triples that share the engine. On the intake side, an R owner and a base-model owner are looking at exactly the same decision, and it is a maintenance decision rather than a performance one.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eCare and cleaning\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eNormal service returns the element to the restriction it started with, and it is nothing more than compressed air on the clean side, blown outwards. Water and a mild detergent handle what the air line will not shift; rinse until the water runs clear, then dry it fully in open air. Heat and flame are never used, and the element goes back dry — there is no oil to reapply.
