Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – BMW R12 (2025–2026) PM213S

Fit a new air filter to any motorcycle that has covered a season or two and the next ride will feel better. The impression is genuine and it is also the wrong evidence: it sets a loaded element against a clean one, a contest the standard paper panel would have won just as convincingly. On a large air-and-oil-cooled boxer it lands hard: the first three thousand revolutions carry most of the work, and that is where a rider reads intake condition as response. PM213S earns its place for what happens after that ride, not during it.

What the first ride proves

Very little on its own. The comparison that would mean something, this weave against a fresh paper panel on the same road on the same day, needs two elements and patience nobody has. Published figures stand in for it: 80 microns and 5,050 l/m²/sec for this cloth, and 93.13 per cent retention of 100-micron particles where a four-layer oiled cotton returned 76.42 per cent in the same test. Those numbers describe a filter, not a motorcycle. No insert inside a standard airbox makes a series R12 noticeably stronger.

Where the gain actually sits

In two undramatic places. The first is a resistance that stays close to where it started for longer: roughly twice the filtering area spreads a season of dust more thinly, so the pressure the engine pays to breathe drifts upward more slowly between cleanings. The second is that the part stops being a purchase, since a paper panel has one destination while this one goes back into the box it came out of. Both are worth more across ten years than the sensation of a single afternoon.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air on the clean face of the PM213S, blown outward through the surface that collected the load, does most of the work; from the dirty side it would only push dust deeper into the weave. When a dry spell leaves more than air will shift, lukewarm water with a mild detergent finishes it, rinsed until the water runs clear. Then let it dry in moving air in its own time, never with a heat gun and never near a flame, since heat is what actually ends one of these. Fitment & Compatibility

For the BMW R12 of 2025 and 2026, as a direct replacement in the unmodified series airbox. Sprint Filter lists this number against three machines: the R12, the R12 nineT and the R nineT of 2021 to 2024. Read that boundary carefully: the earlier R nineT of 2014 to 2016 and every R nineT Scrambler, late ones included, carry a different part number, so a name and a year are not enough.
