An HPFC shell in three sizes

The shell is HPFC — LS2's high-performance fibreglass composite. At 1500 grams it is light for a touring full-face carrying a drop-down sun visor, and fibreglass absorbs impact energy in a way that suits long days rather than lap times.

The range spans XXS to XXXL across three shells. A size S therefore sits closer to the head than it would on a one-shell design, where every size shares the same outer dimensions.

Carbon wäre leichter, aber nicht unbedingt besser: Fiberglas verformt sich beim Aufprall etwas mehr und baut die Energie dabei über einen längeren Weg ab. Für einen Helm, der Tagesetappen abspult statt Rundenzeiten zu jagen, ist das die passendere Auslegung — und der Preisunterschied landet dort, wo er mehr bringt.

About the Solid White finish

A clean gloss white shell with no graphic. Beyond the look there is a practical case — light helmets absorb measurably less heat sitting in traffic, and white reads clearly against nearly any background. It shows dirt honestly, which on something you should be inspecting regularly is arguably a feature.

Airflow from the top down

The system is a crown intake feeding channelled EPS, with rear exhausts drawing the air out. Routing the ducts through the liner foam is what gets the airflow to your head instead of stalling it under the shell.

Der Verzicht auf eine Kinnzufuhr ist ein Tourenkompromiss: weniger Zugluft im Gesicht, weniger Geräusch, dafür läuft die Beschlagfreiheit über den Pinlock statt über den Luftstrom. Bei längeren Fahrten ist das angenehmer, im Stop-and-Go bei Regen weniger.

Seeing out

A wide, hardcoated visor with a double-injection seal and a button lock. The Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision anti-fog insert is included rather than sold separately.

A tinted sun visor is built in, deployed by a slider and stowed completely inside the shell. It comes out for cleaning without tools, which matters more than it sounds after a summer of insects.

Max Vision heißt hier nicht nur breit, sondern auch hoch: Der obere Rand liegt weit genug oben, dass man in Kurvenlage nicht über die Kante schaut. Wer schon einmal in Schräglage gegen den Visierrahmen geblickt hat, weiß, wie sehr das stört.

Holding on, and letting go

A reinforced chin strap with a micrometric metal buckle, emergency cheek-pad release and a metal safety plaque on the shell. The plaque matters at borders: it is the homologation proof in physical form.

Die mikrometrische Ratsche ist der praktische Verschluss für Vielfahrer: einmal auf Länge gebracht, danach ein Klick pro Fahrt. Anders als beim Doppel-D lässt sie sich auch mit Handschuhen bedienen, ohne abzusteigen.

The bit you actually touch

A breathable COOLMAX liner that wicks and dries quickly, treated to be antibacterial and hypoallergenic. The chin curtain attaches magnetically — no poppers to fight with cold hands.

COOLMAX ist kein Marketingwort, sondern eine Faserkonstruktion: vierkantige Hohlfasern transportieren Feuchtigkeit über Kapillarwirkung nach außen, wo sie schneller verdunstet. Praktisch heißt das, dass die Polster nach einer Schwitzetappe eher klamm als nass sind — und über Nacht trocken werden.

What it is built for

Ausgelegt ist er auf die Strecke zwischen Stadtverkehr und Autobahn: leise genug für Etappen am Stück, mit Sonnenblende für tiefstehende Sonne und Pinlock für kalte Morgen. Die Bauform ist bewusst nicht auf Rennstreckenhaltung optimiert — im aufrechten Sitzen liegt er ruhiger als ein Sporthelm.
