DescriptionThe whole story

The JP ES 002 takes the charcoal canister, its purge valve and the hoses between them off the Hypermotard 950 SP, and answers the circuit that would otherwise report the loss.

Key Features

  • Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP (2019–2025)
  • Removes the charcoal canister, its valve and its hoses
  • Vents the fuel tank through a proper fitting
  • Answers the purge valve circuit
  • Frees the space the canister occupied
  • Standard parts refit at any time

Ohlins Suspension

Fully adjustable units with more travel than the standard bike, which is what turns the Hypermotard into a motorcycle that can genuinely be ridden hard.

A Monitored Purge Valve

The solenoid that meters stored vapour into the inlet tract is checked electrically. Unplugging it alone writes a fault, so the circuit is completed rather than abandoned.

Room for a Racing Exhaust

Aftermarket systems mount in the same congested area, and clearing the canister is frequently what turns a difficult fit into a straightforward one.

Why the Bed Fills

Carbon holds vapour in its pores until they are full and releases it when the engine draws on them. Liquid fuel fills those pores permanently.

Why Removal Is Common

The assembly occupies contested space, has a limited life, cannot be serviced and produces symptoms that are difficult to diagnose. Any one of those is a reason.

The Job Is Mostly Bodywork

Reaching the assembly takes longer than removing it, which is why doing this alongside a service or an exhaust change makes considerably more sense.

What Owners Report

Hard starting when the tank is full, an uneven idle for the first minutes and a smell of fuel around the machine. Each has other causes, which is why the canister is rarely suspected.

An Afternoon, Not an Evening

The removal itself is simple once the tank and side panels are off. What takes the time is tracing every hose to its end and making sure nothing is left open, because an open vapour line into an intake is worse than the canister ever was.

Fuel Level and the Vent

A tank that cannot breathe pulls a vacuum as it empties, and the symptom is an engine that starves after forty minutes and runs perfectly the moment the filler cap is cracked open. Owners chasing that fault rarely suspect the vent, which is why the fitting supplied with the kit matters more than it looks.
