DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Suzuki GSX-R 600 is one of the machines that fills the middle groups at every track day in Europe. Bikes from 2004 onwards are affordable now, parts are easy to find, and a 600 rewards a rider who works on lines rather than on horsepower. All of that makes them heavily used, and heavily used bikes visit the fuel can more often than most. Accossato's FC122 is the quick-release fuel tank cap listed for the GSX-R 600, machined from aluminium with a pawl that can be had in six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Suzuki GSX-R 600, 2004 to 2017
  • All-aluminium body, machined on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl for a short stop at the fuel can
  • Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
  • Pawl listed separately as a spare
  • New design from Accossato
  • Confirm the fit against the application list
  • No German ABE on file; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

There is one material in this cap and it is aluminium, machined throughout on CNC equipment; Accossato considers the part robust and durable and its design new. The pawl is the piece that matters in the pit lane, closing quickly so that the GSX-R 600 is never standing with an open filler for longer than it takes to pour. Its pin is offered in blue, green, black, red, silver and gold, so a bike already carrying anodised details can be matched or deliberately contrasted. The pawl itself remains orderable as a single item if it is damaged.

When the Red Flag Comes Out

Sooner or later a session is stopped. A bike sheds oil, someone goes into the gravel, a marshal needs the track clear, and forty riders come back to the pit lane at once with fifteen minutes still on the clock. Those minutes are worth using. Get the bike onto its stand, switch off, take off your gloves and look at what the next session will need. If the tank is low, this is the moment to fill it rather than in the rush after the green flag flies again. Keep the can where you can reach it without moving other people's machines, work with the engine cold enough to be sensible, and close the cap properly before you go looking for news about the delay.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato gives the GSX-R 600 from 2004 to 2017 for the FC122, and that is the span covered here. The same cap is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the GSX-R 750, the GSX-R 1000 and the GSR750. Check your bike against the application list before you order.

Road Approval

Neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate is documented for the FC122, so we supply it for closed circuits. For the road, the GSX-R 600 keeps its original cap, which normally locks with the ignition key.
