DescriptionThe whole story▼
A dusty enduro loop is hard work for any two-stroke's air filter, and the TM Racing EN 250 2T is no exception once a few bikes ahead have kicked up a trail of fine dust. Accossato lists an Accossato by Marchald filter, part MTM705, against the EN 250 2 STR. built from 2015 to 2018. Accossato says the filter is built with off-road materials and technology for sustained hard use, and the foam element shown in the photo carries the Accossato by Marchald print.
Key Features
- Accossato by Marchald air filter, part MTM705, for the TM Racing EN 250 2T (EN 250 2 STR.), built 2015 to 2018
- Foam filter element with the Accossato by Marchald print
- Built with off-road materials and technology, in Accossato's own description, for sustained hard use away from the road
- No second Accossato filter is listed specifically for this bike
- Accossato lists the same filter for the TM Racing EN 125 2T, the EN 300 2T and the MX 250 2T
- No approval documentation on file; built for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's description of the MTM705 covers the build years and the off-road materials and technology behind it, with the foam earning its place by keeping dust out of the intake side of the engine; no oil ships alongside the part. The foam element pictured carries the Accossato by Marchald print and is cut to sit in this bike's standard air box. A filter that has picked up a tear along its seam, or that no longer sits evenly against the housing after being forced back in, should be retired rather than trusted on the next ride.
Riding Out a Dusty Loop
On a trail that has been baked dry, the dust kicked up by the bikes ahead settles everywhere, and the air filter is what stands between that fine grit and the engine for the rest of the loop. A rider who has just come off a long, dusty section is well placed to check the MTM705 before heading straight back out, since a filter already loaded with dust will only let more through on the next pass. Tapping the worst of the loose dust out gently, rather than blowing it straight back into the weave with compressed air, keeps the foam doing its job instead of pushing grit deeper in. On a day with several dusty loops planned, carrying a second filter already cleaned and oiled means a quick swap at the van rather than running the same filter dust-loaded for the rest of the ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
The 2015 to 2018 build years given here match what Accossato lists for the MTM705 against the EN 250 2 STR. Within the wider two-stroke range, Accossato also carries the MTM705 for the EN 125 2T, the EN 300 2T and the MX 250 2T. Since this bike has no second Accossato filter listed against it, the MTM705 is the one worth comparing to the application list or the part taken off the bike.
Road Approval
No approval documentation is on file for the MTM705, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use only, not for road-registered motorcycles.
