Some of these leave the showroom restricted. The F 750 GS is the machine on this fitment list that BMW built with the A2 licence in mind, and a licence class is a ceiling in a way that gearing or riding habits are not: the engine is held below a stated output for as long as the paperwork says so. That matters when choosing a filter: what a fine medium takes away, it takes from the top of the demand curve — where a restricted twin is not permitted to go.
Key Features
- Dry polyester special non-woven, filtering down to 7 microns
- Rated at 560 l/m²/sec, the lowest flow figure and the finest medium in the Sprint Filter range
- Never oiled, so no film can travel onto the sensors behind it
- Sits in the standard airbox in the paper panel's place, with nothing cut and no remap
- About double the filtering surface of other performance elements
- Cleaned and refitted rather than binned, with two years of warranty from purchase
A low ceiling makes a low flow figure cheap
Restriction is paid where the demand for air is highest: wide throttle, high revs, the engine taking everything the box will hand over. A 750 held to the A2 limit is not allowed there, and an unrestricted one geared for travelling rarely chooses to go. The T12 passes a rated 560 litres per square metre per second where the standard P08 weave passes 5,050 — about a ninth of the air through the same area of cloth, the largest step down in flow the catalogue holds. On a bike that lives at part throttle, most of that gap is capacity nobody was drawing on. Not free, then — but cheaper here than on anything else this airbox is bolted into.
What the seven microns are for
Finer holds back more and lets through less, and no arrangement improves both halves — the range is a row of trades, not a ladder with a best rung. The P08 opens to 80 microns and breathes easily; this non-woven closes to 7 and does not. What the closing buys is the fine mineral fraction: the powder hanging behind another machine on a dry farm track, small enough to pass a coarse weave and to reach a bore. The other half of the truth belongs here too: the PM188T12 adds no noticeable power to a standard F 750 GS, and no panel inside a stock airbox ever has. It is bought for the ground, not for the feel.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air does nearly all of it. Hold the line against the clean face so the dust leaves the way it came in instead of being driven deeper into the mat. When a dusty week leaves more behind than air will shift, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent finishes it, rinsed until the water runs clear. After that only moving air — no heat gun, no oven, no flame, each of which ruins the medium — and it returns to the box dry and unoiled. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is under the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the BMW F 750 GS built from 2017 to 2026, seated in the unmodified series airbox. Eleven machines from three manufacturers share this element: BMW's middleweight F range plus adventure models from Kove and Voge. All are named under the Fitment tab.
