DescriptionThe whole story

The muffler from the Moto2 and Superbike World Championship grids, on a 3/4 kit. Spark builds the Grid-O for series where no decibel ceiling applies, and lists it among the silencers that sit above the 102 dB limit rather than under it.

Key Features

  • 3/4 kit for the Yamaha R1 and R1M: titanium D.60 2-into-1 manifold plus Grid-O silencer.
  • The same muffler used on Moto2 and Superbike World Championship grids.
  • Above the 102 dB limit of the French championship and the Endurance World Championship.
  • Visible TIG welding on the silencer case.
  • Eliminates the catalytic converter, keeps the standard headers.
  • Compatible with the passenger footrests.

Where the Welds Are the Point

The Grid-O carries its TIG welds on the outside of the case, unground and unpolished. On a road silencer that would be a finishing defect; on this one it is the specification.

Race mufflers are built to be repaired, sectioned and modified between rounds, and a ground-flush weld is a weld you cannot inspect. Leaving the bead visible is what a paddock part looks like when nobody has been asked to make it look like a catalogue part. Spark sells it that way deliberately, and on a bike whose collector already shows its seams the two read as one piece of thinking.

No Ceiling, No Compromise

Spark is direct about the Grid-O: it is chosen in markets and series without noise restrictions. That is not a warning wrapped in marketing — it is the use case.

Against the 102 dB the French championship and the Endurance World Championship require, and the 107 dB of European Stock 1000, the Grid-O is out of scope for both. What it offers instead is the least restricted exhaust path Spark builds at this length, and the sound that goes with it. If you have a circuit where that is allowed, nothing quieter will feel the same; if you do not, the Force kits are the ones to look at.

Installation

The standard headers stay in the fairing; only the section from the collector back is replaced. Spark lists this kit as compatible with the passenger footpegs and supplies the bracket for the original one. Keep the standard mid-section — refitting it is the only route back to a road-legal exhaust. The installation sheet is under Downloads.

Fitment & Compatibility

Yamaha R1 and R1M, 2015 through 2025, and the MT-10 and MT-10 SP, 2016 through 2026 — Spark lists this part for both. The titanium manifold on its own is GYA8858; the same manifold with the Moto GP silencer is GYA8879T, also above the limit. The full titanium system with the Grid-O is GYA8871T.

Road Approval

None, on two counts: no catalytic converter and a silencer Spark places above the championship noise limits. Closed circuits without a decibel ceiling.
