Inner tubes are coated because they run in bushings and seals for their whole life. Cartridge tubes sit inside the fork leg and do the actual damping. A bent inner tube is scrap — straightening changes the wall and it bends again.

Why the Original

Öhlins supports its suspension with individual service parts, which is why a fifteen-year-old damper can still be rebuilt to specification. Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand.

Getting the Number Right

Part number 04761-48 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Öhlins states dimension a 48 mm, dimension b 615.5 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Inner tubes carry a low-friction coating; once it is through, the seals wear quickly. Axle clamps are machined so the axle clamps without pinching the fork out of alignment.

Fitting and Setup Service

If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04761-48

Category: Inner Tubes

Dimension A: 48 mm

Dimension B: 615.5 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04761-48_0ef53319-4b24-4875-bd4a-d12e9ece2410.png?v=1788873258
