DescriptionThe whole story▼
A welded bracket instead of a bolted one. That is the sentence Akrapovic chose to lead with for this exhaust, and on a motocross bike it is the right choice — brackets are what fail when a machine lands hard, not silencers.
Key Features
- More durable welded bracket
- Titanium construction with a titanium end cap
- 3.3 kg against the standard 3.7 kg
- 1.3 PS more at 11,700 rpm and 0.9 Nm at 11,300 rpm
- Meets FIM noise limits
- Thirty minutes to fit
- Closed course competition use only
The Entry Point Into the Range
Akrapovic positions the Slip-On Line for recreational riders rather than for factory teams — a combination of performance, design and durability at a price that is genuinely accessible next to a full Evolution Line system.
For a CRF250R ridden at club level or on a practice track, this is the sensible half of the catalogue. It replaces the silencer only, so the standard headers stay, and so does most of the money.
Both Gains Above Eleven Thousand
1.3 PS at 11,700 rpm and 0.9 Nm at 11,300. A 250 four-stroke motocrosser is revved to its limiter constantly, so gains this high in the range are not academic — they are where the engine spends the second half of every straight.
An Older Machine
The 2016 and 2017 CRF250R is now a practice bike or a first four-stroke for a younger rider. On a machine at that stage a slip-on is the proportionate upgrade; a full titanium system would cost more than the motorcycle is worth.
The Headers Stay
A slip-on replaces the silencer only. Honda's standard headers remain on the bike, which keeps the cost down and the installation short — but it also means the gains are smaller than a full system delivers.
That trade is the whole point of the line. For a rider whose priority is a lighter, better-sounding bike rather than the last horsepower, it is the right side of the trade.
Ten Per Cent
0.4 kg on a 3.7 kg standard silencer is a modest saving next to what this catalogue's road slip-ons achieve. The reason is that Honda's original is already a competition part rather than a Euro 5 box — there is much less excess to remove.
Thirty Minutes
Two springs and a clamp. A motocross silencer is designed to come off quickly for cleaning, and this one keeps that. Half an hour is generous.
Titanium End Cap
Akrapovic finishes this silencer with a titanium end cap rather than a carbon one. On a motocross bike that is the durable choice: carbon at the outlet chips when the machine goes down, and titanium simply marks.
