DescriptionThe whole story▼

In a motocross turn, the inside foot leaves its peg. On a Honda CRF250R the rider sits forward in the corner and slides the inside leg ahead, boot just clear of the ground, to keep the bike balanced as it leans. The real skill lies in what comes next: getting that foot back onto the peg quickly and cleanly as the bike straightens and the throttle opens. Accossato's enlarged Ergal footpegs are listed for the CRF250R from 2004 to 2026 and offered in orange, blue, black, red or Titanium.

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato, founded in Moncalieri near Turin in 1969, calls these pegs enlarged and names Ergal as their material, a high-strength aluminium alloy. The intended use is motocross, enduro and off-road riding. Enlarging a peg gives the boot a broader landing place, an advantage every time the foot returns to it at speed. The set is supplied as a pair in one colour, and among the five options is a red that suits the CRF250R's bodywork.

Back on the Pegs After the Turn

Coaches often talk about the moment the foot comes back up. If the rider waits too long, the bike accelerates out of the turn while the body is still seated and one leg is dangling, and the first bump throws everything off balance. If the foot comes back too early, the bike may still be leaned over too far and the boot catches the ground. The aim is one smooth movement, timed with the throttle: the leg returns as the bike straightens, the boot lands on the peg, and the rider rises into the standing position for the next straight.

Riders practise this on a flat turn, again and again, until the foot finds the peg without the rider looking down. On a 250 four-stroke, which has to be kept revving through the turn, there is little time for it, and a clumsy return costs drive. A larger peg offers a bigger target, and when the boot lands slightly off-centre it still has something solid beneath it. It is one of the less obvious ways a footpeg affects a lap time on the CRF250R.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list names the CRF250R from 2004 to 2026, and we have entered those years. It is the only Accossato footpeg listed for the bike. Its siblings the CRF250RX, the CRF450R and the CRF450RX take the same pair. When changing the pegs, reuse the original pins and springs if they are in good condition, put a little grease on the pivot and check that the pegs return fully.

Road Approval

No German ABE or other approval has been provided to us for this set; it is supplied for racing and competition.
