DescriptionThe whole story▼
In tight woods a Husqvarna FE 450 turns as much with the rear brake as with the handlebar. A stab on the pedal, the back wheel slides round, and the bike points at the next gap between the trees. Accossato's DK018 is a rear disc for that kind of riding on the FE 450, listed from 2014 to 2022. It is a fixed disc made in one piece, steel-made in the supplier's words, 220 mm in diameter and 4 mm thick, and it takes over from the original.
Key Features
- Rear brake disc for the Husqvarna FE 450, 2014 to 2022
- Fixed one-piece off-road disc, steel-made according to the supplier
- Diameter 220 mm, bore 110 mm, thickness 4 mm
- Designed by Accossato to replace the original equipment disc
- Minimum working thickness printed on the surface
- Sold as a single disc
- No German ABE; for competition and private off-road riding
Construction and Material Quality
There is only one part to the DK018: a disc the supplier describes as steel, with friction surface and mounting centre in one piece. For a rear brake that is stabbed hard and often, that is a robust arrangement with nothing to loosen. Accossato explains that its disc knowledge comes from road racing in the Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 classes and emphasises close tolerances and well-chosen material. On the surface you will find the minimum thickness, the point at which the disc has to be renewed.
Pivot Turns Between the Trees
The move is simple to describe. Approaching a tight turn, you shift your weight forward, press the rear brake hard enough to lock the wheel for a moment and let the rear step out as you steer. On the FE 450, with its strong four-stroke pull, the throttle then drives the bike out of the turn. Done a hundred times in a day, this gives the rear brake a different kind of work from a long descent: short, hard bursts that heat the disc in quick cycles and wear the pads fast. Check the rear pads more often than the front ones when you ride like this, because a pad worn down to its backing plate scores a disc within minutes. And keep the pedal where your boot finds it without searching, since the whole move depends on timing.
Fitment and Compatibility
The DK018 is listed for the FE 450 from 2014 to 2022 as a replacement for the original rear disc. Accossato also lists a second rear disc for the same bike, the DK272 for 2014 to 2026, whose dimensions differ, so compare your old disc with the figures given here. The front disc for the FE 450 is the DK017 (2014 to 2023).
Road Approval
For the DK018 there is no German ABE on record and no documented type approval; please use it for competition and off-road riding only.
