An element code names two things at once, and only one of them changed for 2024. The material here is Sprint Filter's fine dry nonwoven, the same stuff folded into housings all across the catalogue. What is new is the outline. Husqvarna redrew the small Svartpilen for the 2024 model year, the airbox went with it, and a panel cut to the earlier shape has nowhere to seal. So the shape is what you order, and the material is what you choose.
Key Features
- Dry nonwoven rated at 14 microns, passing 1,800 litres per square metre per second
- Cut for the 2024-on housing; the preceding Svartpilen 125 sits under its own separate code
- Oil-free throughout, so there is no dose to judge and nothing able to migrate forward
- Takes the paper panel's place on the standard mounting: nothing trimmed, no remap
- Regenerated with an air line and refitted, instead of bought again at every interval
- Two years of warranty from the date of purchase
The same cloth in a different outline
It helps to know which half of a specification a part number is protecting. Fold pattern, frame, depth and sealing face all belong to the housing, and those are what the code guarantees. The medium is picked separately, from the short list Sprint Filter offers for that housing — the standard weave, this fine nonwoven, and a racing cloth. Anyone who liked a P14 on a previous machine is therefore not buying a different product here. They are buying a familiar material in an unfamiliar shape.
What the fine rating asks in return
Finer holds more back and lets less through, in that order and always. Set against the standard weave at 80 microns and 5,050 litres per square metre per second, this element works at 14 microns and passes 1,800: a large gain in retention bought with roughly a third of the rate. The reduction applies to every ride, whatever the air happens to be carrying that day, which makes the medium a judgement about roads rather than a step up. None of it is power. Nothing dropped into an untouched airbox adds any, and on an A1 machine the ceiling was written into the licence category long before the intake had a say.
Care and cleaning
An air line at the clean face, worked outward, sends the load back out the way it came in; for most of a year that is the whole service. When the mat is holding more than air will lift, hand-warm water and a little mild detergent release the rest, and the rinsing goes on while anything still colours the water. The PM293P14 then dries in moving air and nowhere else, clear of heaters and open flame, and goes back untreated once it is dry right through. Sprint Filter's illustrated sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 built from 2024 to 2026. Seven entries across the current Husqvarna and KTM singles share this element, each named with its years in the Fitment tab. A Svartpilen 125 from the run that ended in 2023 belongs to an older Sprint Filter code, so the year of build settles the order rather than the name on the tank.
