Ceramic, and What It Survives

Black Series is a ceramic layer bonded to the titanium, not a lacquer sprayed over it. That distinction decides how the silencer looks after a season: bonded ceramic does not brown at the hot end and does not lift at the clamp, where high-temperature paint eventually does both.

What it will not take is abrasion. Cutting polish and the stronger wheel cleaners are formulated to remove material; on this surface they remove the finish. Warm water and a soft cloth is the whole routine.

On an Orange Motorcycle

The 1290 Super Adventure carries a great deal of orange and a black trellis frame. A bare titanium silencer sits between the two as a third tone; the ceramic one aligns with the frame and lets the bodywork carry the colour.

With panniers fitted — and this motorcycle usually has them — the black case also stops the exhaust competing visually with the luggage.

What It Costs, and For What

982 euro against 820 for the titanium GKT0204TOM. That is 162 euro, and the finish is the entire difference. Weight, shape, end cap, heat shield, mounting, approval and the measured 2,5 hp at 4.500 rpm are identical.

Said plainly, because it makes the decision straightforward: if you want the bare titanium look, take the cheaper number.

Where the Development Happened

Spark did not test this silencer on a bench alone. The durability programme ran for months on Adventure School machines, and the geography Spark cites is not decoration: desert sand and Balkan dust are abrasive in different ways, and a coated case has to survive both.

That is also why the ceramic version exists at all. A finish that only looks good in a showroom would have been pointless on this motorcycle.

Two and a Half Horsepower, Where It Counts

Spark quotes plus 2,5 hp at 4.500 rpm with the standard manifold retained and the motorcycle otherwise untouched. On a loaded adventure twin that engine speed is the working range, and a figure there is worth more than a peak number.

One Texture Left

The shield over the case is carbon fibre. Against a matt black body its weave is very nearly the only texture on the whole assembly, and it is what keeps the silhouette from flattening into one dark shape in a photograph or under a street light.
