DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is the Öhlins FKC 102, released for the Harley Davidson ROAD KING as built between 2014 and 2016. The ROAD KING keeps its own fork legs, axle clamps and mounting.
Key Features
- Ships with spring Sold separately, see notes.
- Built for the Harley Davidson ROAD KING (2014–2016); fits without modification
- Damper stroke 116 mm
Construction and Material Quality
Every Öhlins dealer can re-valve the unit, because the shim stack is a documented, serviceable assembly. Öhlins machines its own critical components instead of buying them in, and the tolerances are where the money goes. The cartridges are supplied as a matched pair, tested together before packing.
Setting It Up for the ROAD KING
Cruisers carry weight low and long, with short suspension travel doing work that a sportbike would spread over twice the stroke. This part number spans model years 2014 to 2016; earlier and later generations take different numbers.
What Changes Inside the Fork
The spring carries Öhlins number Sold separately, see notes. and can be exchanged for a different rate without replacing the damper. The damper moves 116 mm from full extension to full compression. Length is 736 mm and is not adjustable on this number. Compression and rebound become separately adjustable, which on most standard forks they were not. Öhlins supplies a baseline setting with the kit, established on the model it is listed for.
About the FKC 100 Custom & Heritage Range
The TTX GP is the shock Öhlins developed from its racing programme and then made available over the counter. Compression and rebound become separately adjustable where the standard fork often offered neither. The twin tube separates the two circuits, so both stay pressurised.
Fitment and Compatibility
Part number FKC 102 and the Harley Davidson ROAD KING (2014–2016) belong together; other model years take other numbers. It is model-specific rather than universal: length, stroke and valving are all set for this chassis. Öhlins notes for this application: Rec.springs 08866-01 10N/mm not included. Optional lowering kit (-25mm) 08866-03. Will not fit Road King CVO 2014 or Electra Glide Low 2016. Will not fit 2017-2018.
Road Approval
Road approval: no documented status for the Harley Davidson ROAD KING. Get in touch before ordering if the machine is to stay road legal.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins suspension rewards careful fitting. We recommend having the work done by an authorised Öhlins service centre — and we are one ourselves: we fit, service and set up Öhlins components in house. If you would like us to handle the installation, just ask and we will quote it with the order.
