The JP ES 007 removes the RSV4 RR's secondary air valve from the circuit without a warning appearing.

The Circuit
An electrically opened valve feeding the exhaust ports, watched by the controller at every ignition cycle. Only the watching causes difficulty.
Unplugging Is Not Deleting
An empty connector reads as infinite resistance, which the controller treats as a fault rather than as an intention.
Presenting the Value
The eliminator supplies the impedance the controller expects. No warning appears and no fault is stored for later.
The Sensible Choice
The RR carried the same engine, frame and electronics as the RF with Sachs suspension and a considerably lower price. For a race build it was always the better starting point.
Which Is Why They Get Raced
A build replaces the suspension anyway, so paying for Öhlins first makes little sense. Paddocks are full of RRs for exactly that reason.
The 2017 Update
Two hundred and one horsepower, a six-axis platform and cornering ABS. The RR received all of it alongside the more expensive version.
Overrun Noise
Residue burning in the header, amplified by every race system ever fitted to one of these. The air supply is the cause.
Before the Dyno
Air entering after combustion moves the lambda readings, and an RR on a dyno is usually there for a reason.
The Mechanical Half
The reed pack stays on the heads until the cover is fitted as well.
Homologation
Removing emissions hardware ends road legality across Europe.
Cornering ABS From 2017
A six-axis platform feeding lean angle into the braking and traction systems arrived on the RR at the same time as on the RF. Aprilia has never used the cheaper version of the range as a place to remove electronics, which is unusual and worth saying.
