DescriptionThe whole story▼
Fitting a quick-action throttle to a 690 Duke displaces the right-hand controls. The JP PDQ KT032 carries them on a bar clamp of their own.
Key Features
- KTM 690 Duke (2012–2019)
- For quick-action throttle installations
- Titanium anodised Ergal 7075
- CNC-machined from solid
- Military-specification switch elements
- Pre-wired for the original connector
A Single That Wants a Fast Hand
The LC4 makes its torque low and runs out of interest at the top, which means the rider is working the throttle constantly between corners. Reducing the rotation needed to reach full opening makes that noticeably less laborious on a road being ridden properly.
Where the Standard Switch Lives
Inside the throttle assembly, built around the tube. Once a quick-action unit replaces that tube, the starter and engine stop controls have nowhere to go, which is the part of the conversion that catches people out.
An Independent Clamp
This unit mounts to the handlebar rather than to the throttle, so the throttle can be changed again later without disturbing anything electrical and the switch position is chosen by the rider rather than inherited.
Nothing Reaches the Loom
Pre-wired for KTM's own connector. No wire is cut, no splice is made and no fault appears, which keeps a road-registered motorcycle legal, insurable and fully diagnosable after the change.
Vibration From One Cylinder
Even with balancer shafts a 690 cc single moves everything attached to the handlebar. Military-specification sealed contacts inside a body milled from one block are considerably more tolerant of that than a moulded assembly held together with clips.
No Shelter At All
The Duke has no fairing and barely a fly screen. The housing and its seals are the only barrier between the electrics and whatever the road produces, which is why the switch elements are specified above automotive grade.
Titanium
One anodised finish, converted into the surface rather than applied. Against the Duke's orange and black it identifies the component as machined without adding a colour to a motorcycle that already has enough.
