DescriptionThe whole story▼
1.8 Nm at 2,950 rpm. On a transverse V-twin that has always made its character below three thousand revs, that is where the gain belongs — and it comes with 2.5 kg removed from the high right-hand side of a bike people load up and ride a long way.
Key Features
- 2.93 kg against the standard 5.44 kg: 2.5 kg and 46.1 per cent less
- 1.8 Nm more at 2,950 rpm — just off idle, where the 853 cc V-twin works
- 1.1 PS (0.8 kW) more at 7,600 rpm, peak output rising to 73.3 PS
- Titanium outer sleeve with a black-coated titanium end cap
- Carbon fibre muffler clamp and heat shield
- Compatible with the Moto Guzzi Urban cases
- Plug-and-play, no remapping, EC and ECE compliant
A Transverse Twin Is Different
Moto Guzzi's air-cooled 90-degree V-twin sits across the frame with its cylinders in the airstream, and it delivers in a way no parallel twin does: strong from just above idle, done with by seven thousand. The exhaust that suits it is one that adds torque low down, and that is exactly what the measurement shows — 1.8 Nm at 2,950 rpm, not four thousand revs higher where the engine has already said what it has to say.
Three Materials, Three Jobs
The sleeve is titanium for weight. The end cap is titanium too but black-coated, so it holds its finish against the heat instead of discolouring. The clamp and the heat shield are carbon fibre — light, and on the shield's part able to sit close to a hot body without conducting into a rider's boot.
It is a deliberate mix rather than a single-material showpiece, and it is why the saving reaches 46 per cent on a bike whose standard silencer is a large double-skinned steel unit.
The Urban Cases Stay
Moto Guzzi's own Urban luggage is what most V85 TT owners fit, and it mounts close to the silencer on the right. This system is dimensioned around it, so a bike set up for travelling stays set up.
The V85 TT Is a Guzzi First
Moto Guzzi built the V85 TT around a name and an engine layout rather than around a specification sheet. It is not the fastest 850 in the class, it is not the lightest, and the people who buy it know that — they buy it because a transverse twin sounds and feels like nothing else on the road.
An exhaust for such a motorcycle has one obvious job. Akrapovic tuned this one to open up that sound without pushing the bike into a character it does not have, which is why the measured gains are modest and sit low, and why the finish is restrained rather than loud.
Fitment and Compatibility
