DescriptionThe whole story▼
The rear brake of a BMW R 1200 RS earns most of its living below walking pace: in a queue, at a give-way line, on the first metres out of a parking space with both feet still down. Accossato's AGPA92 pad covers the rear wheel of the 2014 to 2018 sports tourer, and this article number holds the Organic (OR) material, the gentlest member of the range and the one the company links with a long working life and with a disc that is not chewed up in the process.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the BMW R 1200 RS, 2014 to 2018
- AGPA92OR: the AGPA92 plate in the Organic (OR) compound
- Accossato links this material with longer service and reduced wear on the disc
- Two pads in the box, the set for the single rear caliper
- Sister numbers cover the ST, EV1, EV2 and ZXC materials
- AGPA177 is the front pad across the same model years
- Suited to riders who use the rear brake gently and often
- No German ABE documented; supplied for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
An organic material is made to be kind to what it rubs against. Accossato's note on this compound covers two points: it goes on performing for a long time, and it limits the wear it inflicts on the disc. At a rear wheel both are useful, because a rear disc on a shaft-driven tourer is not a part anyone wants to renew often, and the pad behind it spends much of its life in light contact rather than in hard work. The plate is shared with the four sister materials; only the friction layer changes from one number to the next. Each box holds two pads, which is one caliper filled.
Queueing Into Town
Commuting traffic uses a rear brake in a way no other kind of riding does. You creep forward, stop, creep again; the pedal is under the boot for minutes at a time, the speeds are too low to move much air across anything, and the pads work constantly without ever coming near the effort of a hard stop. Filtering adds its own pattern of small, repeated applications. An R 1200 RS is tall-geared and would rather be moving, so its rider does a good deal of balancing on the rear brake at junctions. All that quiet work still wears pads out, and rear pads are the ones people forget. Shine a torch into the caliper once a season, keep anything oily well away from the disc face, and when the pads finally come out, clean the piston before it is pressed back.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA92 is Accossato's rear pad for the BMW R 1200 RS across 2014 to 2018. One caliper works the rear disc on this model, so a single box completes the job, and the two pads go in as a pair. Riders who want a firmer, more weather-proof character at the back will find it in the ST number, while the EV1, EV2 and ZXC numbers move towards track use. The front of the same bike takes the AGPA177, and the DK006 and DK007 are the discs Accossato lists for the RS. Check the fluid in the rear reservoir while the caliper is open.
Road Approval
No approval documents exist in our records for this pad, neither a German ABE nor a test certificate, and we will not claim what we cannot show. The AGPA92OR is sold for racing and track use.
Scope of Delivery
