DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Brutale 1090 belongs to the generation of four-cylinder MV Agusta naked bikes that Accossato's list opens in 2010 with the 1090 RR, followed by the 1090 R, the base model and the Corsa. They are fast, raw machines with fewer electronic aids than today's bikes, and many now spend their weekends on circuits in the hands of owners who enjoy an older Italian four. Circuit days include the occasional trip through a gravel trap, and what happens afterwards matters for the tank. For the Brutale 1090 of 2010 to 2015, Accossato lists the FC119, a quick-release aluminium tank cap.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the FC119 out of aluminium on CNC machines and uses nothing else for the body; the company calls it robust and durable and the design new. Opening and closing are handled by a quick-closing pawl, which gives quick access to the Brutale 1090's tank. The pin on that pawl can be ordered in six colours. If the pawl is ever damaged, Accossato sells a replacement separately.
Back from the Gravel Trap
A trip through the gravel usually ends with the bike on its side, a marshal helping to lift it and a recovery vehicle bringing you both back to the paddock. Before the Brutale 1090 goes out again, give the tank area your full attention. Gravel and dust collect in every recess, including around the filler cap, and if the cap is opened while grit is lying next to it, some of that grit can drop straight into the tank. So clean first: brush the loose stones away, then wipe the area around the FC119 with a damp cloth until no dust remains. Only then open the cap, look at the sealing face and the pawl for damage, and close it again firmly. Check the tank for dents or scrapes near the filler, and watch for fuel weeping around the rim over the next few minutes. A bent pawl is replaced before you ride on. After that, go through the usual checks of levers, pegs and controls before the next session.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list has four entries for this bike, all with the FC119: the Brutale 1090 RR of 2010 to 2015, the 1090 R of 2012 to 2015, and the base 1090 and the 1090 Corsa of 2013 to 2015. The product therefore covers 2010 to 2015. The same cap is also listed at Inter-Pace for the F4 1000 and the Brutale 1000 RR. Check your version against the list before you order.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC119, so it is meant for closed circuits. On public roads the Brutale 1090 keeps its standard cap, which is normally key-operated.
