The ZZR1400 was built to cover great distances at high speed, and many examples have done exactly that for well over a decade. A big sports tourer puts its front discs through countless stops from motorway pace, often with luggage aboard, and on a high-mileage bike the discs are among the parts that eventually reach their limit. For the ZZR1400 of 2006 to 2023, Accossato lists the DK235: a floating Elite disc with a 310 mm ring, as thick as the original, on a black carrier.

Construction and Material Quality
The DK235 separates the job of braking from the job of holding. A 310 mm ring, 5 mm thick like the part it replaces, takes the heat and the wear; the black carrier with its 80 mm centre opening ties the ring to the wheel through rivets marked with Accossato's logo. Between the two, Accossato leaves a clearance that it says was worked out through close study of tolerances, so the ring can expand without distorting the centre. The printed minimum thickness gives the owner of a hard-working tourer a clear line to measure against.
When the Kilometres Add Up
Accossato gives a plain rule of thumb for the life of a disc: renew it after roughly thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or sooner if it is worn, scored, cracked or thinner than the minimum printed on it. On a ZZR1400 that serves as a touring bike, that distance can pass in a few seasons. The pads will have been changed more than once by then, and each set has taken a little of the ring with it.
Keep a note of the odometer reading whenever you change pads or check the discs, and measure the thickness at several points around each ring with a micrometer rather than across the lip at the edge. Warning signs on a heavy, fast bike deserve attention: a lever that pulses as you slow from high speed, a braking face with a blue tint, or a hairline crack near a rivet hole. A thinner disc has less material to soak up heat, so it runs hotter, and Accossato warns that a worn disc may break under extreme stress. Renewing both front discs together keeps the braking even on the long ride home.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list covers the ZZR1400 from 2006 to 2023, with a general line up to 2019, a line marked ABS that runs to 2023 and the Performance Sport from 2014 to 2020. The DK235 replaces one of the two front discs. As each order contains one disc, two are needed to renew the front brake completely. Tighten the disc bolts to the torque given by Kawasaki for the ZZR1400.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the DK235, and neither is a type approval. We sell it for use on the track.
