The updated R6 of 2017 onward gets its own crash pad code, the TP109, reflecting the fairing changes that came with the redesign, and owners of this generation are as likely to be found at a track photographer's favourite corner as on the grid itself. Trackside photo sessions put riders in close proximity to photographers crouched near the kerb, and a bike that comes off exactly where the cameras are pointed can end up sliding towards people as well as gravel. Accossato lists the TP109 crash pads for the R6 of 2017 to 2020.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the TP109 from aluminium and sets a coloured anodised insert into each pad, available in six shades, with a matching screw cover as an optional extra. The pack contains two pads. Fitted to the updated R6, near corners where photographers often crouch at the kerb, the pads stand ready to be the first point of contact should the bike tip or slide, taking some of what the fairing nearby would otherwise suffer. Once a pad shows a hard knock, swap it for a fresh one rather than keep it in place.
Trackside Photography and a Bike Coming Off
Circuits often designate official photography positions at corners thought to produce the most dramatic images, which are usually the same corners where a bike is leant over hardest and has the least margin for error. A rider who runs wide or loses the front near one of these spots is sliding towards an area with people in it, even if marshals and track safety officers position photographers well back from the racing line. Track organisers manage this risk carefully, but it remains a reason for riders to treat these corners with the same respect as any other, rather than pushing harder simply because a camera is watching. If the R6 does come off near a photography position, the crash pads take the first contact; check them, the fairing and the levers before the bike continues.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the TP109 for the R6 across 2017 to 2020, and our listing follows those years, distinct from the older TP004 code for earlier R6s. The PF046 front and PP009 rear axle sliders are also listed for this bike. Accossato notes that drilling the fairing may be needed on some motorcycles, so please ask us before ordering whether your R6 requires it. No other model shares this code in our shop.

As no ABE or test certificate has been supplied for the TP109, we list it for racing and competition use.
