DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Honda CRF250F arrived for 2019 as the successor to the CRF230F: an air-cooled 250cc four-stroke trail bike for unhurried riding in woods and fields. It suits the rider who takes the back of the group, waits for the others and helps them when they get stuck, a job that is harder on a bike's levers than it sounds. Accossato's B8206 fits the CRF250F from 2019 to 2022. Machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, it replaces the stock front brake lever with a two-part design whose blade can fold forward on a joint rather than snap.
Key Features
- Folding CNC brake lever for the Honda CRF250F, model years 2019 to 2022
- Mounts on the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever
- Short blade, drawn for three fingers
- Joint lets the blade swing forward in a fall
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, gold or red, on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Take the B8206 in the hand and the first thing to notice is that it is made of two pieces. The dark-finished base pivots on the master cylinder just as the stock lever did; the blade, in black, blue, gold or red, is hinged to it, and that hinge is what lets it fold. Both pieces are CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy chosen because Accossato wants its levers strong, light and dependable. Being a brake lever, the blade is the short one, laid out for three fingers, so the hand can keep hold of the grip and brake at the same time.
Riding Sweep
Organised trail rides and groups of friends tend to follow one rule: somebody rides sweep. The sweep stays at the back, makes sure nobody is left behind and stops for every rider who has fallen, stalled or taken a wrong turn. It is a job for a calm rider on a dependable bike, and a CRF250F suits it. It also means stopping and starting all day in awkward places: on a slope beside a rider who has dropped a bike, in a muddy gully, on a narrow track with a drop at its edge. Many of those stops end with the sweep's own machine propped against a bank or laid down in the undergrowth while its rider lends a hand.
Bikes left like that sometimes slide or tip over, and the front brake lever is often what finds the rock hidden in the brambles. On the B8206 the blade can fold forward on its joint instead of snapping, so the sweep has a fair chance of coming back to a bike with a usable front brake. That matters, because the sweep is the one person in the group nobody is watching out for: everyone else is ahead. A lever that folds instead of breaking is no guarantee, and a spare in the backpack is still wise, but it makes a long day at the back a little more relaxed.
Fitment and Compatibility
Four model years of the Honda CRF250F, 2019 to 2022, are covered by the B8206, which fits Honda's original front brake master cylinder. For the left side, the C7103 folding clutch lever covers the same four years; it is offered in black and red, while the brake lever adds blue and gold, so a CRF250F with matching levers wears black or red.
Road Approval
The CRF250F is an off-road trail bike, and the B8206, which has no documented German ABE, is meant for that setting only, not for public roads.
