DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato offers this 16x18 radial brake master cylinder with its body painted coated blue, a colour aimed at riders who want a splash of contrast on the bars rather than a plain finish. It keeps the same 16 mm piston and 18 mm pivot distance as the rest of the 16x18 line, a combination Accossato recommends for track riding and also considers suitable for the street, and it comes fitted with the black Revolution lever as standard. The target use is single-disc front brakes on roadsters, adventure machines and tourers that call for a firmer, more direct lever feel.
Key Features
- 16 mm piston diameter, suitable for single-disc braking systems
- Fixed 18 mm lever pivot distance, for track use and also suited to the road
- Forged aluminium body finished in coated blue paint
- Black Revolution lever, reach adjusted by adding or removing inserts
- Offset riser that limits master cylinder flex under braking
- Passive lever stroke cut by more than 50 percent versus a standard radial unit
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
The body of this unit begins as a forged aluminium casting, then takes the coated blue paint that sets it apart visually from its siblings in the same 16x18 line. The internal specification does not change with the colour: stainless steel screws hold the unit to its mount, the bleed valve is zinc-plated steel, and the seals are manufactured from Formula 1 compound to resist repeated heat cycling and prolonged exposure to brake fluid. A riser built into the mounting clamp is offset to reduce flex in the body when the brake is applied hard, and the bore inside is shaped to cut the passive stroke, the lever movement before the pads start to bite, by more than half compared with a standard radial unit.
What the 18 mm Pivot Distance Changes at the Lever
This coated blue master cylinder uses the 16 mm piston Accossato specifies for single-disc braking together with an 18 mm pivot distance, described by the manufacturer as the track setting that is also suitable for street use. Compared with the softer 16 mm pivot elsewhere in the 16x16 line, the 18 mm distance needs a touch more hand pressure at the lever but delivers a shorter stroke and a sharper, more immediate bite once the pads engage. The pivot is fixed on this model, so there is no PRS adjustment to make; a rider chooses this version precisely because they want that one firmer, more direct feel every time, with the blue paint offering a visual way to pick it out from a black or silver sibling on the shelf.
Fitment and Compatibility
BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aprilia and Ducati machines make up the 54 entries in our fitment data for this master cylinder; the BMW S1000 XR, Honda CB1100RS, Kawasaki VULCAN S, Suzuki SV650 and BMW F850GS ADVENTURE are a handful of examples. Open the Fitment tab on this page for every model year and weigh it against your own V5 before buying. In black, green, red, silver or fluorescent yellow, the same body is sold separately too.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
