A component sold as lasting the life of the motorcycle carries a quiet assumption: that it will still be obtainable in ten years, in the size this bike needs. Air filters mostly fail that test by supersession rather than by wear — the model changes, the housing changes, the part number retires. The 937 Monster is a useful counter-example. It has been in production since 2021 and it has taken the same element throughout, across every model year to date, alongside the Monster+ that shares its bodywork family. PM207S is that element.

Why an unbroken production run matters here

A washable element only pays for itself over years, and years are precisely where availability risk sits. Six model years on one unchanged code is the best evidence available that the part will still be listed when it is needed, and it also means a used Monster of any year takes the same filter — no cut-off date to look up, no split in the middle of the range. For a bike that changes hands often, that is worth as much as any specification on the data sheet.

The claim not being made

This is not a power part. The Monster's intake, fuelling and exhaust were developed as one system and homologated as one system, and an element dropped into an unmodified airbox leaves a standard 937 exactly as strong as Ducati built it. The gain is elsewhere and it is undramatic: an intake restriction that stays close to its starting value because the panel is cleaned rather than allowed to fill, and one consumable removed from the workshop bill for as long as the bike is kept.

Care and cleaning

The routine is compressed air on the clean side, worked outward so the trapped material leaves along the path it took coming in. Where a film resists, lukewarm water and a mild detergent will lift it; rinse until the water leaves the weave clear. Drying is done by moving air at room temperature alone, never with a heat source — heat is the one thing that reliably destroys this polyester, and it gives no warning.
