Rain is not something a road motorcycle gets to plan around. An airbox is built to take a certain amount of water without passing it on, and the element inside has to survive being damp and dried again, over and over, for years. Sprint Filter does make a water-repellent medium — the P037, 37 microns at a rated 4,500 l/m²/sec — but it is not catalogued for this element code. For the CFMOTO SR-R 675 the answer to wet weather is the standard dry weave and a correct drying routine, and both are less trouble than they sound.
Key Features
- Single-layer dry polyester cloth, 80 microns at a rated 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Takes water and gives it back: washable in lukewarm water with mild detergent
- No oil to apply, so a wash finishes the job instead of starting a second one
- Roughly double the working area of a conventional performance element
- Direct replacement in the series SR-R 675 airbox, without remap or adaptor
- Specified for the life of the motorcycle, warranted two years from purchase
A damp element is not a damaged one
Polyester does not soften, swell or lose its shape the way a pleated paper panel eventually does, which is why washing is part of the routine here rather than an emergency measure. The rule that matters is about heat, not water. A hot-air gun, a radiator or a flame will spoil the material, so the drying is done by moving air alone and takes however long it takes. The other rule is patience: a panel that still feels cool and heavy is not dry, and a damp element belongs on the bench, not in the box.
The step an oiled filter adds and this one does not
An oiled cotton element has to be re-treated after every wash, and the dose is a judgement nobody can verify afterwards — too little and the medium is not doing what it was designed to do, too much and the surplus has somewhere to go. Sprint Filter's own comparison puts that construction at 76.42 % retention on 100-micron particles against 93.13 % for this dry weave. The P08 removes the whole question: it is finished when it is dry. What it does not do is change the engine's output. A bolt-in filter will not make a standard SR-R 675 noticeably faster, and the honest benefit is a restriction that comes back to where it started.
Care and cleaning
Air first, and usually air only: hold the compressor line to the clean side of the SM290S and drive the load back out through the face that collected it. Water is for what air will not move — lukewarm, a small amount of mild detergent, then a full rinse. Drying happens in open air at room temperature and never against a heat source of any kind. The element goes back into the housing dry and with nothing applied to it. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
The P08 element for the CFMOTO SR-R 675 of 2025 and 2026, one panel per machine. Three 675 models in the CFMOTO range take this code; the 450-class SR-S draws through another housing entirely. Check the year and capacity in the Fitment tab before ordering.
