A Dark Bike Gets Darker

The Street Twin is one of the few modern classics that leaves the factory genuinely dark — black cases, black frame, matte tank options — and the standard silencers are the brightest thing on the right-hand side. Replacing them with black ones removes the last interruption in that line.

The effect is different from putting black pipes on a chrome-heavy Bonneville, where they create a contrast. Here they close one.

Short and Black Is a Combination

The 60's body is already the most compact of the three, with a slash-cut outlet that ends forward of the axle. Take the brightness out as well and there is very little exhaust left to look at, which on a bike bought for its plainness is usually the point.

If you want the silencers to register at all, the longer Trumpet in the same finish is GTR0402BOM.

What the Finish Costs

156 euro over the brushed version. The shape, the weight, the mounting and the type approval are identical — Spark treats the surface and nothing else, so the decision is entirely about how the bike should look.

The Approval Is Unaffected

Black Series and Scotch-Brite carry the same Euro 4 homologation. A ceramic coating is a surface treatment applied to a certified silencer, not a change to how it works, and the certificate covers both.

Worth stating because people assume a darkened exhaust must be the racing one. Here it is not.

Keeping the Black Even

Ceramic is durable but not chemically indifferent. Degreasers and car-wash products attack the surface over time and leave it patchy, and patchy black looks worse than no black at all. Warm water, mild soap, soft cloth — that is the whole routine.

Sold as a Pair

Both sides in one article, with the mounting hardware. Spark does not sell single silencers for this motorcycle, which is the right call on a bike with a symmetrical exhaust — one black can and one factory can would be a strange thing to look at.

Installation

Slip-on level: the standard silencers come off and Spark's go on, header pipes untouched. The approval covers the exhaust as delivered, so nothing about the fitting is a compromise on the paperwork.
