Where It Sits
This one measures 12 mm, 142.4 mm, and those figures are what separate it from the neighbouring numbers. Öhlins machines its pistons rather than sintering them, which is why the port edges stay sharp. Valves and needles set the adjustable part of the damping; the piston sets the rest. Öhlins machines its pistons so the port edges stay sharp and the flow predictable.
Original Öhlins Part
A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.
Identifying the Right Part
Order under 06127-06. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. The published dimensions are diameter 12 mm, length 142.4 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
