Forty-Four Machines
One for each of Lewis Hamilton's racing number, in matte black with restrained gold detailing, forged wheels and a titanium exhaust. It is the rarest F4 variant MV produced and among the most collectible motorcycles of its decade.
Restraint, Unusually
Hamilton was involved in the finish decisions rather than lending a signature to a graphics package, and the result is noticeably quieter than MV's usual limited editions. The gold is sparing and the black is matte.
Every Change Weighed
On a forty-four-example motorcycle, the first question about any component is whether the original can be put back. This unit uses MV's own connector and the standard assembly refits without trace, which is the only basis on which it belongs here.
The Ones That Are Ridden
Not all LH44s live in climate-controlled rooms. The ones being used meet the same problem as any F4: a throttle assembly whose cast bore and clipped cover lose their precision after enough seasons.
Both Parts in One Body
MV built the right-hand switches into the throttle housing, so both are renewed together. This unit covers the whole job as a single machined component rather than a casting with a cover over it.
Black Anodised
A single finish, converted into the surface. Against the LH44's matte black and gold it is the option that stays out of the way entirely, which on this motorcycle is clearly correct.
Matte Black and Gold
The LH44's finish is unusually restrained for an MV limited edition, which is generally credited to Hamilton's involvement in the specification. The cockpit follows that logic, and a component that stays visually quiet belongs in it.
