DescriptionThe whole story▼
Euro 5 changed what an aftermarket exhaust has to do. From 2021 the Ninja H2 SX had to meet the tighter standard, and a silencer that simply removed the emissions hardware would take the type approval with it. This one carries its own catalytic converter and keeps the paperwork intact.
Key Features
- Catalytic converter built into the system, so the bike stays Euro 5 compliant and EC/ECE approved
- 5.5 kg against the standard 7.74 kg: 2.2 kg and 28.9 per cent less
- 1.9 PS (1.4 kW) more at 10,100 rpm and 1.8 Nm more at 5,500 rpm
- High-grade lightweight titanium muffler outer sleeve
- Handmade carbon fibre heat shield and an end cap with twin exhaust ports
- Stainless steel link pipe
- Fully compatible with the Kawasaki OEM side cases, plug-and-play, no remapping
The Converter Is the Whole Point
A 28.9 per cent weight saving is smaller than what a decatted racing silencer would show, and that difference is exactly what you are paying for. Keeping the converter inside the system means the exhaust gas is still treated, the ECU sees what it expects, and the motorcycle can be presented at an inspection without an argument.
It also means the throttle response is clean from the first ride. Akrapovic quotes perfect response with no remapping, and that is only achievable when the sensors are still reading a treated gas flow.
Twin Ports, One Muffler
The end cap carries two outlets from a single body. On a supercharged engine that keeps gas velocity up across a wider range than one large opening would, and it gives the tail of the bike a symmetry the standard single exit does not have.
Which Generation You Have
This part is for the Ninja H2 SX from 2021 onward. The 2018 to 2020 machines predate Euro 5, use a different exhaust arrangement, and take S-K10SO21-HRAABL instead. The two look similar in a photograph and are not interchangeable — check the model year before ordering.
Why a Slip-On Is Enough on a Supercharged Engine
On a naturally aspirated motorcycle, the headers set much of what an exhaust can achieve, and a slip-on captures only part of it. A supercharged engine works differently: the blower, not the exhaust, determines the pressure the cylinders see, so replacing the silencer captures most of the gain that is available at all.
That is why Akrapovic offers this as a slip-on rather than a full system for the H2 SX, and why the plug-and-play installation with no remapping is realistic rather than optimistic. The engine management sees a gas flow it already understands.
