DescriptionThe whole story

The gain lands at 3,400 rpm. That is not an accident — Honda's NC750 engine redlines at 6,500, lower than almost anything else on the road, and it was designed to be ridden between two and four thousand revs. An exhaust that added torque at 8,000 rpm would be adding it somewhere this engine never goes.

Key Features

  • 2.24 kg against the standard 3.43 kg: 1.2 kg and 34.7 per cent less
  • 0.7 Nm more at 3,400 rpm — inside the narrow band this engine actually uses
  • Akrapovic's carbon fibre end cap
  • Compatible with the Honda side cases and the centre stand
  • Thirty minutes to fit
  • EC and ECE type approved
  • No removable noise insert is supplied

An Engine With a 6,500 rpm Ceiling

The NC750 is unusual. Honda built it around a low-revving 745 cc twin derived from car practice, with long gearing and a redline where most middleweights are only getting started. It returns exceptional fuel consumption and it is one of the easiest big bikes to ride slowly.

That character dictates what an exhaust can usefully do. The measured 0.7 Nm at 3,400 rpm is a small number in absolute terms and it is in exactly the right place; a larger figure higher up would be worth nothing on this motorcycle.

Luggage and the Centre Stand

NC750s are bought as commuters and tourers, and most carry Honda's own cases. This silencer is dimensioned around them and around the centre stand, so a bike set up for daily use stays set up.

What This Part Also Fits, and What We Do Not List

Akrapovic lists this silencer for the Honda Integra as well — the maxi-scooter built on the same platform. We do not carry scooters, so the Integra does not appear in our vehicle selector; if you have one, the part is the same and you are welcome to order it.

The manufacturer's fitment also reaches back to the NC700 of 2012 and 2013. Our fitment starts at 2014, when the 750 arrived, so that the vehicle selector does not offer an NC750 in a year it did not exist.

The DCT Versions Take It Too

A large share of NC750s sold in Europe are the DCT models — the NC750SD and NC750XD with Honda's dual-clutch gearbox. That adds around 10 kg to the motorcycle and changes nothing about the exhaust path, so this silencer fits them exactly as it fits the manual bikes, and the published figures apply to both.

Fitment and Compatibility

S-H7SO2-HRC covers the Honda NC750S and NC750X from model year 2014 through 2020, including the NC750SD and NC750XD with the dual-clutch gearbox. The measurements were taken on a 2016 machine.

Road Approval

EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
