DescriptionThe whole story▼
This system has no road approval. Akrapovic homologates it for circuit use only, and fitting it to a registered motorcycle is the owner's legal responsibility. Everything below assumes a track.
Key Features
- 6.4 PS more at 9,200 rpm — one of the largest gains in this catalogue
- 4.7 Nm more at 7,650 rpm
- 4.8 kg against the standard 7.95 kg: 3.2 kg and 39.6 per cent less
- Alternate routing places the exhaust on the right-hand side instead of under the bike
- Black-coated titanium muffler sleeve, titanium end cap, handmade carbon fibre heat shield and clamp
- Stainless steel header, resonator and link pipe; black-coated aluminium muffler bracket
- Designed from scratch rather than adapted from the road system
- No road approval — circuit use only
The Exhaust Moves to the Side
Suzuki routes the GSX-8S's standard system underneath the motorcycle, which is quiet, tidy and invisible. This one runs it out to the right instead, which changes the bike's silhouette more than any other single part could.
It is also a functional decision: a side exit shortens the gas path and removes the underslung volume, and both contribute to the 6.4 PS. On a naked bike, the visual and the mechanical argument point the same way.
Six Point Four Horsepower on an 800
79.1 PS becoming 84.2 is an 8.1 per cent gain, which is among the largest this catalogue records for any system. It comes from replacing the entire path — header, resonator, link pipe and silencer — on an engine whose standard exhaust was built around Euro 5 rather than around flow.
The torque figure follows: 4.7 Nm at 7,650 rpm on a twin that makes 74.8 standard.
Materials Chosen by Position
Titanium for the muffler sleeve and end cap, where weight matters and the eye falls. Stainless steel for the header, resonator and link pipe, where heat cycling and vibration are worst. Aluminium for the bracket, coated black. Carbon fibre for the heat shield and clamp.
Four materials in one system, each where it does the most good — which is how 39.6 per cent comes off a part that has to survive track use.
Two Racing Lines for the Same Motorcycle
Akrapovic builds two complete systems for the GSX-8S and they are genuinely different products. The stainless version, S-S8R1-HHAKESS, keeps its catalytic converter and its type approval, runs underneath the bike, and is the one for a registered machine.
This titanium version deletes the converter, routes the exhaust out to the right and finds 6.4 PS — and gives up the approval to do it. The choice is not about finish. It is about whether the motorcycle goes on the road or on a circuit.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-S8R3-APLTBL covers the Suzuki GSX-8S from model year 2022 through 2026. Installation is quoted at 45 minutes. If you want an Akrapovic on a road-registered GSX-8S, the stainless Racing Line S-S8R1-HHAKESS is the type-approved alternative.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
