DescriptionThe whole story▼
What is in this kit is a wiring harness, not a bracket. Akrapovic supplies an extension for the standard lambda cable, and it is needed because the 2024 CB650R carries two sensors and the second one has to reach further once an aftermarket exhaust changes the geometry.
Key Features
- An extension harness for the standard lambda sensor cable
- For 2024 model year machines onwards with two lambda sensors
- Covers the CB650R, the CB650R E-Clutch and the CBR650R
- Not needed on earlier single-sensor machines
- A fitting kit in the catalogue sense, but electrical rather than mechanical
Count the Sensors
Akrapovic is precise: this kit fits 2024 model year motorbikes onwards with two lambda sensors. Euro 5+ requires a sensor after the catalytic converter as well as before it, and that second one is the reason the cable runs short.
Look at the exhaust. Two threaded bosses with two cables running back to the loom means this kit. One means an earlier machine and a different part.
Why a Cable Needs Extending
The sensor stays where Honda put it; the connector it plugs into does not move either. What changes is the path between them once a different exhaust sits in the way, and a loom routed for the factory silencer no longer reaches without tension.
A stretched harness is a slow failure: the connector strains, moisture finds the pins, and eventually a fault code appears that has nothing obviously to do with the exhaust. An extension prevents all of that for the price of a tank of fuel.
Three Model Names
The CB650R, the CB650R with Honda's E-Clutch automated clutch, and the faired CBR650R. All three use the 649 cc inline four and the same exhaust arrangement, so one kit serves them.
The E-Clutch version is worth naming because accessory lists often omit it, and its owners are used to checking twice.
Not the Mechanical Hardware
This kit contains the harness. If the exhaust also needs a bracket or a clamp, that is a separate item, and the distributor can say which applies to the system being fitted.
Saying so plainly avoids the assumption that one kit covers everything an installation needs.
An A2-Friendly Four
The 650 four is one of the few four-cylinder machines available in A2 form, and its owners tend to keep them standard on paper while improving them in practice. A part that keeps the electronics happy fits that pattern.
Fitting
The extension plugs in between the sensor and the loom. No cutting, no soldering, no splicing into the harness — which matters, because a cut lambda wire is a warranty conversation nobody wants.
Road Approval
Not applicable. A cable extension carries no emissions or noise approval of its own. What the exhaust may do on the road depends on the silencer and the catalytic converter.
