DescriptionThe whole story▼

Riders who choose a Monster 1200 S usually do so partly for its higher-spec brakes, and many of them eventually book a rider training day to learn what those brakes can really do. On a closed area with instructors, the exercises start with gentle stops and end with full emergency braking, and the lesson is always the same: both brakes, applied correctly, stop the bike in the shortest distance. The rear brake plays its part. Its reservoir on the Monster 1200 S of 2014 to 2019 can take Accossato's TS012, a cap machined from aluminium and offered in seven anodised colours.

Key Features

  • Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Monster 1200 S, 2014 to 2019
  • S Stripe of 2015 also listed by Accossato
  • For the original rear reservoir
  • Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
  • Seven colours: red, gold, black, silver, blue, green, orange
  • Completes a set with FP004, FP007 and TS003
  • No German ABE on file; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

The TS012 begins as aluminium, is cut on CNC machines and then anodised in red, gold, black, silver, blue, green or orange. Its fit is based on the stock rear reservoir of the models on the list, and on the Monster 1200 S it simply takes the place of the standard cap. Before fitting it, inspect the diaphragm or seal that sat under the old cap and replace it if it is no longer supple.

A Day of Braking Practice

Training days usually begin with a look at the bikes, and it pays to arrive with the Monster 1200 S already in order. A few days before, check the rear reservoir with the bike upright: the fluid should be between the lines and look clear. Compare the date of the last fluid change with the owner's manual and have the fluid renewed if it is due, because exercises that repeat hard stops again and again ask a lot of it. A new cap is a welcome finishing touch, never a substitute for fresh fluid. If you fit the TS012 yourself, protect the paint and bodywork near the reservoir with a cloth, keep the reservoir open briefly and rinse off any drop with water immediately. Tighten it gently and test the pedal several times before moving off. On the day, listen to the instructors: they will show how much the rear contributes at the start of a stop, while the load is still spread across both wheels, and how little it can do once the weight has moved forward.

Fitment and Compatibility

The TS012 is listed for the rear reservoir of the Monster 1200 S from 2014 to 2019 and for the S Stripe of 2015. Inter-Pace also carries it for the Desert X, the Hypermotard 821 and the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200. Accossato's other caps for the Monster 1200 S are the FP004 for the oil filler, the FP007 for the clutch reservoir and the TS003 for the front brake. Please confirm the fit on the application list before ordering.

Road Approval

For the TS012 we have no ABE or other test document on file, so we sell it for motorsport use.
